Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome to Morning Open Thread (MOT)

We're known as the MOTley Crew and you can find us here every morning at 7:00 am Eastern (and perhaps sometimes earlier!). Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanently or just once in awhile. With the Auto Publish feature you can set it and forget it. Sometimes the diarist du jour shows up much later: that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Volunteer in the comment threads. Click on the MOT - Morning Open Thread ♥ if you'd like us to show up in your stream.

So, the other day I  was ruminating on the concept of six degrees of separation, whereby every person on the planet, be it Obama or a Chinese peasant farmer can be linked by a maximum of 6 links. And what I thought about was how many people were only one link away i.e someone that knows or has met someone that I have met as well.

For my sins in 1969, when the Apollo 11 crew were doing their world tour, the Prime Minister of England   at that time Harold Wilson hosted a cocktail party in their honor, and as it happened as a 15 year old schoolboy, I was invited as one of four representatives of the future generation.

Now at this party, I met two Prime Ministers, Wilson and Heath, several cabinet ministers, Bobby Moore, captain of Englands 1966 world cup winning soccer team, Jackie Stewart - Probably Britains best ever formula 1 driver, many actors and of course, Armstrong Aldrin and Collins.

Now I am absolutely certain that none of these people will remember me, but those still alive will almost certainly remember the event.  And how many people will they have met who would have been a second degree of separation.

So, since it is Monday, Thanksgiving weekend is over and you all need some cheering up, here are some music videos which are first degree of separation.

First is Joe Jackson, with whom I had a very late and drunken night in 1980

Second up is Nils Lofgren

And Finally Garland Jeffries, with added benefit of some Monday Morning Sax .
